GRANDFATHER'S

More Thoughts
- Did you ever think of Humility? Stephen Covey rightfully
calls humility the mother of all virtues. I recently came across a beautiful
prayer called "Litany
of Humility" on the web site of the Eternal Word Television
Network (EWTN). Since I, by my nature, am so self centered and arrogant,
I seriously
need humility. I have promised myself to say the prayer everyday asking
God to change my soul. I recommend you try the same. Humility is not
a sign of weakness but a true source of strength...inner strength which
we can only get from our God who is the humblest of all. This is the road to true inner peace which leads to world peace.
- In the past I received a very beautiful poem from a very
talented young lady, Melissa Abinero from Jakarta, Indonesia. She wrote
this master piece the day before Christmas. It is very obvious to me
she was divinely inspired. To me she really capture the true meaning
of the
Nativity.
These could
have been very well the thoughts of the Mother of Jesus and those
who played a role in this unfolding of a historic milestone occurring
with people the world considered ordinary but God considered everything
but ordinary. It is called "Mary's Joy". Very recently I recieved another beautiful poem from her that captured the essense of Easter. This is another must read and is called "How Happy". This is her Holy Week gift to all of us. She cherishes this poem because she has a profound love for the Blessed Sacrament and while she was staring at it during Holy Hour before Good Friday, her thoughts gathered to make this poem.
- Heard my pastor, Fr. Jacob, of the Light of Christ Catholic Church in Clearwater Florida, say this at Mass: "The church is not a country club for saints but a hospital for sinners!" This is just how I see my church and why I feel so comfortable and at home in it! If we are really honest with ourselves, all of us fail God (sin) through out our life span. We are all hypocrites at one time or another. It is thru a church we are connected and energized by our Merciful God whose love is truly unconditional. Those of us who have much to be forgiven are all the more grateful when we are forgiven our vast failings. A uneducated polish nun who was the first person that was canonized this millennium, Saint Faustine, expressed confidently that if she was the worst of sinners, she would trustingly throw herself into the merciful arms of Jesus. I can see why she is called Jesus' Apostle of Mercy!
- So much focus was given by the news media this Easter Season to what our Pope should have said or not say that there was virtually no attention was given to his beautiful easter message. I decided to post it here through the following link for all to take it in and strive to live its lessons of Hope: The Pope's Easter Message of 2010!"
- My wife and I love going to yard and estate sales Saturdays. We meet so many interesting people of goodwill in these journeys. One was Esther Knightly. You could see her goodness radiating from her. She shared a quote from a billboard of a church which she liked so much she memorized it. Oh! I feel it is so true and so insightful: "What is right isn't always popular and what is popular isn't always right"! Neither of us knows the author. If you do, let me know and I will give this quote due credit. Going back to this quote, to me it is telling us that morality (or adherence of something to God's laws) is not determined by public opinion. Ester says it so well. "All to often we are concerned with something being socially acceptable/correct rather than just doing what is right"! I couldn't agree more!
